SERVICES
At DPT you are treated one on one by a licensed Physical Therapist, usually the same one each time, in a private room. We do a thorough evaluation and focus on your needs and goals throughout the course of treatment.
Orthopedics
We treat all musculoskeletal issues including arthritis, sprains, strains, injuries, degeneration, post-surgical rehab, and pain in joints, muscles, bursa, tendons or the spine. Whether this is a chronic or acute problem, we will come up with a plan to meet your goals. Treatments can include exercise, stretching, manual therapy, therapeutic modalities, instruction in a program for you to do at home, and education.
Post Surgical
Whether you have just had a joint replacement, ligament reconstruction, rotator cuff repair, or any other musculoskeletal surgery - physical therapy allows patients to recover faster and regain mobility quickly after surgery. PT also ensures that any repairs or replacements made during surgery will heal properly and prevent re-injury. In addition to making sure you get back to your prior level of function, we can implement pain management techniques to reduce or avoid the use of opioid medications. We follow rehabilitation protocols provided by the surgeon, or protocols supported by evidence based practice when one is not provided, to ensure optimal recovery.
Arthritis
While physical therapy cannot cure or stop arthritis, it can help to alleviate symptoms such as pain, stiffness, or soreness. It may even help you avoid joint replacement surgery or the use of prescription painkillers. Through appropriate exercises, stretching, and hands-on techniques, we can help you increase your muscular stability and joint mobility to pick up the slack for what the joints (i.e. knees, hips) are no longer able to provide themselves.
Balance and Falls
Balance problems make it difficult for people to maintain stable and upright positions when standing, walking, and even sitting. Older people are at a higher risk of having balance problems; 75% of Americans older than 70 years are diagnosed as having "abnormal" balance. Balance problems increase by almost 30% of people aged 80 years or more. Physical therapists develop individualized physical activity plans to help improve the strength, stability, and mobility of people with balance problems.
Dry Needling
Dry Needling involves inserting a very thin needle in a muscle to release trigger points. This can help resolve pain and muscle tension and will promote healing. It is not acupuncture. Our physical therapists have been trained by the Institute of Advanced Musculoskeletal Treatments (IAMT) in this technique.
Dry Needling is a valuable and effective treatment for musculoskeletal pain.
